The Chicago Department of Transportation is warning about potential evening rush hour delays Wednesday evening due to unexpected closures to two southbound North Lake Shore Drive lanes.

A broken construction crane is the cause of the lane closures, according to a CDOT announcement, leading two southbound lanes to be out of service just south of North Avenue (1400 N. Lake Shore Dr.).

Workers are trying to remove the piece of broken equipment, which was being used to do maintenance on the drive, "as quick as possible," authorities said.

The freezing rain certainly won't help matters, either.
