Man Charged With Kidnapping, Sexual Assault In West Side Attack

A west suburban man has been charged with kidnapping, robbing and sexual assaulting a woman on the West Side, police said.

Dale Lewis, 48, of Westchester, IL, forced a 24-year-old woman into his vehicle as she was walking in the 5700 block of W. Lake St., in Austin, on Monday, Jan. 9, at 8:45 a.m., according to police. Lewis punched the victim in the face, sexually assaulted her and stole her money. Police saw the victim as she eventually escaped Lewis’ vehicle and were able to arrest Lewis a short way from where the incident happened, authorities said.

The victim was treated at West Suburban Hospital.

Lewis is scheduled to appear in bond court on Wednesday.
