We now have one more thing to get excited about when much-anticipated River Point Tower, which has been under construction for over a year now on land above the Chicago River near Canal Street, finally opens this year.

Gibsons Restaurant Group has announced plans for a steakhouse inside the office tower with a top floor retractable roof, that is sure to make everyone's next list of the best places to dine outdoors next year. The restaurant is slated to open this fall, according to Eater, and is styled as a "modern steakhouse with authentic Italian influences," as a spokeswoman told Eater.

Several steakhouses have opened in Chicago in the past year already; notably, GT Prime and Swift & Sons. Gibsons, which is known for opening Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse in the Gold Coast in 1989, first announced plans for the new restaurant in the 444. W. Lake St. tower in 2015. Since then, River Point Tower has taken shape as a new addition to the downtown skyline with a visually-stunning front facade archway overlooking a garden plaza.
