These Perfect Chicago Dog Babies Are Headed To The Puppy Bowl

By Tankboy in Arts & Entertainment on Feb 3, 2017 6:40PM

The only big game we're really excited about this weekend is The Puppy Bowl. And this year we'll be rooting for some hometown hounds as they make their way across the country to "compete" in Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl XIII.

Three local puppies made the cut—Foster from One Tail at a Time, Slippers from Help Save Pets, and Domino from South Suburban Humane Society. And each player is a wild mix of different breeds, which we will take as a statement to reflect the more wonderful melting pot qualities of America. Foster is a Rottweiler/Golden Retriever/Beagle/Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix. Staffordshire terrier/Rottweiler/Chow Chow/Pug mix. And teeny, tiny Slippers is a Pomeranian/Poodle/Havanese mix. A little bit of something for everyone?

Look, times are trying right now. And while we're hoping against hope that Lady Gaga uses her halftime moment to poke a stick in the eye of an administration that has roiled international waters in just a handful of days in power, the only thing that we know for sure is that The Puppy Bowl is going to be adorable, and we will be tuning in when it airs Sunday afternoon.

The Puppy Bowl will feature 78 adoptable players from 22 states, and if you're interested in any of the Chicago participants you can reach out to their respective shelters and rescue organizations via the links above.

Who will you be rooting or? TeamRuff or TeamFluff?
