This Large-Scale Rolling Stones Exhibition Is Heading To Navy Pier

Call it Exile on Navy Pier.

"Exhibitionism," a multimedia collection of Rolling Stones artifacts, is coming Navy Pier's Festival Hall in mid-April for a four-month run, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced on Thursday.

The exhibition—which judging from photos at previous stops, in New York City and London—is chockablock with instruments, costumes, sets, live footage, lyric sheets, photos and more from the band's career, which dates back to the Mesozoic. The Stones, of course, have been more or less running on their reputation for a few dates now, but here's hoping "Exhibitionism" approximates some of the heights Mick, Kieth and the fellas reached during their glory days.

The rock-icon exhibition bar was set almost impossibly high by the David Bowie Is exhibit that landed at the Museum of Contemporary Art in 2014, which elevated itself above mere memorabilia showcase to something much more genuinely contextual and revelatory. Here's hoping "Exhibitionism" comes close. Ileen Gallagher curated the show, which includes reconstructed locations and studios—like the one seen in Jean-Luc Godard's Sympathy For the Devil.

“Exhibitionism” runs from April 15 to July 30. Tickets are available Friday, February 24, at 10 a.m.
