After helping the Cubs break their century-plus championship drought, beloved teammate and fan favorite David Ross will pursue some additional hardware, of a decidedly different kind: the retired catcher will compete on the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars.
While still presumably filling his relatively new role as special assistant to the team, Ross will cut a rug with dancer Lindsay Arnold as his partner. Ross will be the first baseball player to compete on the long-running dance-contest show.
How will the 39-year-old fare? Well, athletes have historically tended to perform well in the competition. Although as a guy who played a knee-destroying position and is nicknamed "Grandpa," he may have a difficult road ahead. But we learned long ago to never count out Rossy. Good luck, old pal!
