Metal Horns Up: Dark Lord Day Tickets Are Going On Sale Soon

By Stephen Gossett in Food on Mar 14, 2017 6:40PM

Just about every beer geek in the Midwest and beyond has strong opinions about Dark Lord Day, the uber-popular annual beer release/festival at Three Floyds brewery in Munster. For those who can't wait to get their hands on the dark stuff, we have good news: tickets go on sale Saturday, March 18 at noon.

Once again, the ever-hard-to-land tickets don't come cheap ($180; limit two per person), but it gets you quite a bit, in addition to one of the most coveted brews in the land, of course.

A Dark Lord Day ticket lands you:
- Entrance to the festival
- Four bottles of 2017 Dark Lord Imperial Stout
- One bottle of a Dark Lord variant
- A commemorative tote bag (!)

Still no word on what musical acts will be flashing the sign of the horns at the festival, but we do know that it will all go down on May 13, at Three Floyds Brewery (9750 Indiana Pkwy, Munster, IN).

It's easy to gripe about Dark Lord Day's sticker shock and general sense of overwhelm (so pronounced it necessitated our "survival guide"). And that's to say nothing of craft-beer land's creeping agnosticism toward ridiculous, high-ABV stouts. But there's no doubt: DLD is a one-of-a-kind tradition that holds an enormous place in brew culture. As with the newly announced Lollapalooza ticket sale, get ready to hit refresh. Tickets will be available here.
