The standoff was resolved without incident, and the "distraught" man involved was detained, police said late Wednesday morning. The man in the vehicle was an off-duty police officer, according to the Tribune.

A standoff between SWAT officers and a "distraught" man in a vehicle in Edison Park has extended into its ninth hour, as of Wednesday morning, according to police.

A mile-long stretch of Harlem Avenue is closed between Touhy and Devon as the situation continues, police said. Officers responded to the call in the 6500 block of North Onarga Avenue. around 11:37 p.m. on Tuesday night.

No injuries have been reported, according to police. ABC7 reports that it is unclear whether the man barricaded in the vehicle is armed.
