Avuncular former backstop David Ross seems to be in the limelight post-retirement nearly as much as he was when he actually played for the Cubs. Now comes word that Ross' upcoming book, slated for a May release, is getting the big-screen treatment.

Ross and the Cubs are teaming up with Radar Pictures on the adaptation, called Teammate: My Life in Baseball, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The book on which the flick is adapted spotlights key moment's in Grandpa Rossy's career while focusing on Game Seven of the World Series. (Spoiler alert: there will be a happy ending.)

What do you think? Just desserts for a spectacular career and one of the most memorable sports games ever played, or another sign of the transformation from lovable losers to overexposed, hate-able champs? (See also: this.) Something to ponder while we wait for the long tail of the Cubs win to creep further, into the multiplex.
