Illinois State Police are investigating reports of two shootings that took place on the Eisenhower Expressway within hours of each other Monday.
The first shooting, around 1:20 p.m. in the inbound lane near South Kedzie Avenue, was reported by a witness, who said there was a shootout between two cars on the expressway. The report caused state police to close the inbound Eisenhower for a couple hours Monday afternoon.
In the second shooting, around 10:30 p.m., a witness reported hearing gunshots near 17th Avenue in suburban Maywood. Officers investigating the report found bullet casings on the expressway and saw that a car had skid off the expressway into an embankment, according to ABC7. The inbound lanes were closed for a few hours overnight as police investigated.
It appears the shooters in both incidents drove away without being caught by police, according to WGN. No one is in custody, and no injuries were reported to police in either case.
