Person Fatally Struck By CTA Red Line At Grand Avenue Station

Update 4:45 p.m.:
Full service was restored, shortly after 4:30 p.m., according to the CTA. But riders were advised to expect residual delays due to the emergency.
Red Line trains are operating with residual delays after an earlier medical emergency on the tracks at Grand. Service is resuming.

A person was fatally struck by Red Line CTA train downtown on Tuesday, according to the Chicago Fire Department. Trains were temporarily rerouted in the afternoon due to the emergency, the CTA said.
Service was shut down as emergency crews recovered the scene at the Grand Ave. Red Line station, CFD said at around 2:17 p.m. The victim was struck at around 2 p.m.

As of 4 p.m., Howard-bound Red Line trains were still not stopping at Grand, according to the CTA. But normal service had been restored otherwise.
