Sometimes, data reveals deep truths about complex human behavior. Other times, it reveals that we are really junk food obsessed, sex-crazed piggies. Or at least, that's the takeaway from a new data set from goPuff, an online ordering app that allows Chicagoans to order convenience store items late at night.

goPuff parsed through all the ordering data from the launch of the service (6/30/16) and late March of 2017, and checked out what Chicagoans ordered late at night. Specifically, between 2 and 3 in the morning.

Here are the most popular products:

  1. Nerds Rope
  2. Flamin’ Hot Cheetos
  3. Chicken Ramen Noodles
  4. Ben & Jerry’s Half-Baked
  5. Glacier Freeze Gatorade
  6. Reese's Peanut Butter Cup
  7. Sprite (20oz)
  8. Scott 2-ply toilet paper (single roll)
  9. Pepto Bismol tablets (4-pack)
  10. Trojan Magnum Condoms (3-pack)
  11. Ben & Jerry’s Milk & Cookies
  12. Coca-Cola (2 liter)

In case you're like me and didn't know, Nerds rope is a kind of candy. And, of course, the only condoms Chicagoans are ordering from a third-party service where someone might see their order are the largest kind.

Chicago is, it turns out, a bit different from other cities. In New York, the most popular late night order is . . . string cheese. Boring! In Boston, it's watermelon-flavored sour patch kids. In other news, I might just move to Boston.
