One of the very best kinds of overload is summer-music-fest overload. No, not the outsize, overstretched, and sometimes absurdly expensive festivals that populate the season's calendar. We mean the street fests.

It's almost that time of year when, if you desire, you could hit up an enticing street festival, with music booked by reliably solid promotors, just about every weekend. Something of an unofficial kickoff to the season, Do Division Street Fest, in Ukrainian Village, is also among the strongest, thanks to twin booking (or, in festival speak, curation) by the Empty Bottle and Subterranean.

This year's lineup was just announced on Thursday, and it again has some instant notables: excellent, reunited garage-rock favorites The Ponys, Detroit electro-noisniks ADULT., monochromatic-but-catchy post-punks Black Marble, and '60s-pastiche crew Shannon and the Clams.

Do Division Street Fest sets up on Division Street, between Damen and Leavitt, June 2 to 4. More acts have yet to be added, and set dates and times are still to come. The annual fest also brings kid-friendly events, fashion from neighborhood shops and a sidewalk sale. Check out photos from last year's fest, and get ready for the season.
