Hundreds of people marched in Englewood Friday alongside Cardinal Blase Cupich and other religious and community leaders demanding peace in the city streets.

Participants in the march, which included the Reverend Jesse Jackson, Fr. Michael Pflager, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, and the Cardinal traced the stations of the cross, a tribute Catholics make to Jesus Christ on Good Friday, which traces his final moments leading up to his crucifixion.

“We are not here to see violence, we are here to see the goodness of God,” said Cupich, according to CBS2.

The walk began at St. Benedict the African Church on West 66th Street, ABC7 reports. At each of the 14 stops the crowd prayed together and read the names of victims of violence on Chicago’s streets. "I'm a 10-year-old boy that wants to play basketball when I grow up,” one child told the crowd. “But I can't go to a park a block away from my house without an adult with me because of the violence.”
