Police are looking for at least five suspects after a a group of thieves crashed into an upscale retailer on the tony Magnificent Mile shopping corridor and made off with merchandise early Monday, according to police and reports.
After hitting a vehicle on northbound Michigan Avenue, a dark-colored sedan repeatedly drove into the revolving doors of a store in the 900 block of the avenue at around 12:02 a.m., police said. The store was the Louis Vuitton shop, according to reports. Five men hopped out of the car and took several items from the store before taking off in a dark-colored SUV, police said.
A witness told ABC7 that the vehicle in which he was traveling was plowed into after thieves had already driven into the Louis Vuitton doors. "We got stopped at a red light and a BMW just smashed us from the side. They had smashed into the Louis Vuitton store already and we saw a whole bunch of people get out of the car...," Nick, the witness, told ABC7.
Police do not have anyone in custody as of Monday morning. No injuries were reported.
