Robbers have been punching people in the face on CTA trains and then stealing their phones and purses, police warn in a new alert.
Last week, at least two incidents were reported on the Orange Line and Red Line near the Loop, in which two robbers would punch CTA riders while the train was in motion, "causing bodily harm," then flee when the train doors opened at a new station with the victims' belongings.
The robbers were identified as black, male, aged 15 to 17, at least 5'09" tall, and one was between 145-175 lbs and wearing a black skull cap. The first robbery took place in the 1200 block of South State Street, near the Roosevelt station, on April 21 at 6 p.m. on the Orange Line. The second took place in the 300 block of South State Street on April 23 at 3:18 a.m. on the Red Line.
