Tonight is the big event, the "Oscars of food:" the James Beard Awards. The star-studded gala is held in Chicago, at the Lyric Opera, but what if you didn't get a ticket? You can still see the awards as they happen.

There are a couple of great ways to see the event, which is hosted live by Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

First, the James Beard Foundation is running a livestream on their website, starting at 6 p.m tonight, when the awards gala begins. It's got possibly the cutest avatar we've ever seen—a little stick drawing of James Beard with a jiggly bowtie.

Also, if you want to watch the red carpet and see all the fancy food celebs, you're in luck. WTTW will be running a Facebook Live stream of the red carpet starting at 4:45 p.m. The red carpet will be hosted by Chicago Tonight correspondent Brandis Friedman. All you have to do is go to the WTTW Facebook page to see the whole thing.

If you're less interested in watching the whole event live, but still want to see the results, there are a few easy ways to do so on social media. Eater National's twitter handle generally live-tweets the event, as does the James Beard twitter handle. Also, you can follow the hashtag #jbfa to keep up on all the commentary.

Enjoy the awards! The finalists to watch (with a special focus on your Chicago nominees) are listed here.
