Surveillance video captured an awful scene on early on Sunday morning: an unknown man punched a female security officer, apparently just moments after she found him sprawled on the side and throwing up.
The guard, Zoa Stigler, approaches a man lying on the sidewalk against a condo complex, in the 600 block of North Franklin Street, at around 2 a.m. Stigler told CBS Chicago that she offered to call for help for the man. According to WGN, Stigler then called 911, but a police car drove by the scene without stopping. Stigler is then seen bringing out a mop bucket, which she told NBC 5 was to clean up the man's vomit.
When three of the man's friends showed up, Stigler reportedly asked them all to leave the premises—then the man is suddenly seen first throwing a water bottle at Stigler, then sucker-punching her in the face. The full group walks away shortly afterwards. In the CBS clip below, video of the attack begins at around the :37 mark.
Stigler told NBC 5 that she suffered a fractured bone below her eye and broken nose. Her injuries may require surgery, she said. "I was expecting the water, not a punch," she said.
Police are still looking for the assailant as of Monday morning.
