Officials later said that the police officer suffered a possible broken leg and was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, in Park Ridge, according to the Tribune.
According to ABC7 video, Chicago Police Deputy Chief Al Nagode said the suspect took off after police approached the man, who was allegedly driving a stolen vehicle. The officer was pinned after police caught up with the suspect in a nearby alley. Police did not say how many shots the officer fired or if the suspect was armed. Nagode said the suspect is expected to be OK. He was in serious but stable condition, police said. A second officer was injured and is expected to be treated and released.
Per department policy, the officer will be placed on 30-day administrative leave as the Independent Police Review Authority investigates the shooting.
