Chance On Trump's Chicago Hate: 'I Haven't Seen Him [Here] Before'

Chance the Rapper may have ruled out pursuing political office, but that doesn't mean he won't hold accountable those who do hold office—especially those who hold the highest office in the land and also happen to have made habit of denigrating Chance's hometown.
When Chance joined the cast of The View on Thursday morning's episode, Donald Trump was unsurprisingly one of several topics of discussion, which also landed on his daughter; his ambivalence to the term "Christian rap;" his feelings of admiration for Kanye West and Stevie Wonder; and, to kick it off, the racist vandalism of Cavs star LeBron James’ house.
Host Joy Behar also asked Chance about Chicago's spike in violence in 2016. He said, "It's the result of a lot of things... We've had an underfunded public school system for a long time. We have over-policed neighborhoods and terrible relationships between the communities and officers." When asked about gang violence said "very concentrated" and noted Chicago's high level of segregation. "Years of being under-appreciated and underserved as citizens of Chicago theres a lot of..." Tension?, a host interrupts. "Yeah."
Trump's fixation on Chicago violence seems to have diminished, thanks likely to so much scrambling Russia-scandal damage control. But when asked about the president's calling out our city, Chance flashes a wonderfully impish grin and and light shrug. "I haven’t seen him in Chicago before,” he said. “I don’t know if he knows what he’s talking about." (There was that one time last year that Trump came, but that didn't go well for him.)
You can watch the whole video below. Fair warning: he also calls LeBron the greatest basketball player of all-time, so prepare to give those pearls a clutch, Jordan diehards.
