Five people were killed—including a woman in an apparent murder-suicide in Logan Square—and "at least 25 others wounded" in a weekend of violent shootings.

The Logan Square deaths occurred on Sunday: Shantae Nevith, 22, was fatally shot "in the head and back during an argument with a 23-year-old man in the 2500 block of West Lyndale" around 12:25 p.m., according to NBC Chicago. The suspect in her shooting, Charles Torrence Jr., was found dead at 7:34 p.m. in the 4300 block of West Carroll Street; the Sun-Times reports it appeared he had a "self-inflicted" gunshot wound to the head.

The other victims of fatal shootings were a 21-year-old man who was shot in the head and torso in the 6100 block of South Throop at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday; a 19-year-old man who was shot in the chest and body in the 5400 block of West Cortez in Austin at 1:06 p.m. Saturday; a 33-year-old man who was shot in the back and leg in the 200 block of North Leavitt on the Near West Side at 3 a.m. on Sunday; and a 41-year-old who was shot in the head and chest in an empty lot in the 1800 block of West Maypole on the Near West Side.

Chicago police officers also fatally shot a man who, CPD says, fired a handgun at them in Washington Park on Friday night. A police officer was shot during a struggle with a man allegedly drinking on a sidewalk in Chatham on Saturday; his partner then shot at the suspect numerous times.

"The rest of the attacks continued a violent start to the month, with 52 people shot by the end of the fourth day of June," the Sun-Times wrote.
