Vic Mensa's long-anticipated debut full-length is slated to come out this summer, but the Chicago hip-hop standout is thankfully helping tide us over. Mensa on Thursday surprise-released a new EP, titled The Manuscript. It's his first collection of new music since last year's exceptional There's Alot Going On EP.

Not surprisingly, the new EP runs with the topical political streak that Mensa took to new heights with Alot. On leadoff track "Almost There," he raps tellingly, "I've grown too much to ever be that old Vic." On "OG," which also features the great Pusha T, he rhymes, "Fresh out the cell to the booth, drop the Dylann Roof/ I'm still in the hood, tell Zimmerman shoot." The EP boasts also production from Pharrell, Malik Yusef and No I.D. and 1500 or Nothin.

You can stream all four tracks below on Soundcloud. The Manuscript is also available on Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal and other platforms.
