Woman Killed By Metra Train In Avondale Thursday Night

A woman was fatally struck by a Chicago-bound Metra train in Avondale Thursday night, according to authorities.

The inbound Union Pacific Northwest Train was heading south near the 2800 block of West Wellington Avenue when it struck Danielle Irizarry around 10 p.m., as the Cook County Medical Examiner's office told ABC7. Irizarry, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene, on the city's Northwest Side. Authorities are investigating how the crash happened.
