A fire in a high-rise Loop parking garage Saturday afternoon burned several cars and caused fire officials to block off streets through downtown while they worked to put the fire out.
The fire started around 12:40 p.m. in the garage at 17 E. Adams Street, according to the Fire Department, and was declared under control around 1:30 p.m.
According to the Tribune, no one was injured in the fire, though fire officials called for ambulances to come to the scene as a precaution, and possibly about a dozen cars were destroyed by the fire. The Chicago Fire Department has been tweeting updates about the 211-level blaze, and they recently wrote that a final search of the property found no injured people, and at least 6 cars were completely destroyed, and 6 more damaged, in the fire.
