Riverwalk, Beach Shootings & Lawndale Mass Shooting Among High Weekend Violence

A shooting that injured two on the Chicago Riverwalk, another that critically injured two teens near 31st Street Beach and a mass shooting that injured nine people in Lawndale were among the shootings over the hot, violent weekend. At least 37 people were shot, six of them fatally, according to the Sun-Times.
The shooting on the riverwalk happened at around 2 a.m. on Sunday. A 28-year-old man was shot in the right leg, and a 30-year-old man was hit in the left foot after an argument broke out, according to police. Both men were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and listed in stable condition.
Two 16-year-old boys were shot near the 31st Street beach after a fight with an unknown person at around 7 p.m. on Sunday evening. One boys was shot in the neck; the other victim sustained gunshot wounds to the legs, police said. Both were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where they were listed in critical condition.
Nine people were shot in a brazen mass shooting early on Sunday, at around 3:14 a.m. The victims were together in the 3300 block of W. Douglas Blvd. when a black vehicle drove by and opened fire. The victims, one female and eights males, whose ages range between 17 and 35, were all taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital and listed in stable condition.
