Austin Jones, the scene-haired, YouTube-celeb singer accused of child pornography production has been released from custody ahead of a trial, according to reports. The 24-year-old internet-famous resident of suburban Bloomingdale allegedly pressured two underage girls to record and send him sexually explicit videos.
Jones was ordered released on Thursday on $100,000 bond. He will be home-confined 24-hours-a-day at his mother's residence, in Bloomingdale, according to the Tribune. He cannot use the internet or social media ahead of the trial.
The complainants in the case are identified as Victim A and Victim B. Both are teens, around 14 years old. In one chat, Jones allegedly asked one of the victims to "prove" it when she said she was his biggest fan. He also allegedly directed one girl to "make it clap super loud and talk about your age the whole time" while dancing explicitly. Jones allegedly told the girls how to perform sexual acts and directed them on what to wear and what to say in the videos, according to USA Today.
Jones is charged with two felony counts of child pornography production. He could face a minimum of 15 years in prison if convicted. Authorities arrested him on Monday at O'Hare International Airport.
Apparently, there may have also been some red flags in the recent past. Rolling Stone notes that Jones was dropped from a Warped Tour slot after a Change.org petition garnered more than 9,000 signatures urging the festival to cut ties. He had been called out for allegedly lying about his age to get girls as young as 13 to send twerking videos. He posted an apology video, titled Setting the Record Straight, in June of 2015.
Jones has more than 500,000 YouTube subscribers. His most popular video, seen below, has more than 5 million views.
