One of our favorite purveyors of fried chicken and fluffy, honeycomb-shaped corn muffins is pairing up with one of our favorite local breweries this summer...to bring us beer made with corn muffins.

If that ideas has you doing a double-take, let us attempt to explain: The Avondale fried chicken purveyor is providing their signature corn muffins to the Lincoln Square brewery, which will incorporate the muffins into the mash for a limited-edition lager called Top Notch. The beer, with an ABV of five percent, has "fruity and floral notes... with a crisp, balanced malt body," according to a press release from the HBFC and Half Acre staff.

The beer is coming ahead of HBFC's 4th anniversary of being in business, and will hit the restaurant and the Half Acre Tap Room on Tuesday, July 11. The beer will be discontinued after HBFC's Sept. 14 birthday celebration. Honey Butter Fried Chicken is located at 3361 N. Elston Ave.
