An 18-year-old charged with attempted first-degree murder in the Friday shooting that wounded two young girls at an end-of-year-picnic was denied bond. Two juvenile boys, ages 16 and 17, were also charged, Chicago police announced on Saturday.

“Young children in this city can’t participate in a picnic without being in fear of their lives because of gangbangers on the street with guns,” Cook County Judge Peggy Chiampas said at his arraignment, according to the Sun-Times.

"No bail! Take him back!" Chiampas reportedly shouted.

Two girls, ages 7 and 13, were wounded in the "heinous incident," as Chiampas called, according to the Tribune.

The three suspects tried to enter the picnic Warren Elementary (9239 S. Jeffrey Ave.), in Pill Hill on the South Side, but were not allowed in by security. After they went to the nearby corner, someone in a black car fired at them, and the intended targets ran back toward the picnic. Dakayla Hart, 13, was hit in the hand; and the seven-year-old girl was shot in the thigh.

Hudson and the juvenile suspects face two felony counts of attempted first degree murder,
two felony counts of aggravated battery with discharge of a firearm and one misdemeanor count.
