Photos: Stars Come Out For The 'Transformers' Premiere In Chicago

The Transformers franchise has spent a lot of time filming in Chicago over the duration of the series, and the latest installment Transformers: The Last Knight was no different. Unlike previous chapters, The Last Knight didn't close down any streets or recreate rubble strewn across the city in the wake of massive battles between the Autobots and the Decepticons, but the movie has enough of a tie to the city that it held its U.S. premiere in Chicago at the Civic Opera House Tuesday night.
Director Michael Bay was joined on the red carpet set up behind the Opera House overlooking the river by many of the movie's stars, including Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Anthony Hopkins, Laura Haddock, and Jerrod Carmichael.
While we have plenty of photos above of the premiere, it appears the festivities weren't quite fan friendly. Twitter erupted in groans and complaints yesterday as people began to realize that the placement of the red carpet made it rather difficult for the average citizen to enjoy the spectacle.

Though it does look like if you brought a telephoto lens, you could at least see what was happening on the red carpet:

Considering the reviews that the movie has been getting—from all accounts it's another absolutely vapid Michael Bay joint intent on assaulting your senses and bludgeoning viewers in its wake—perhaps they just wanted to make sure they kept any viewers who've felt cheated by spending money on any of the past movies far, far away from the movie's creator.
Or, maybe, they were just taking precautionary measures in case anyone wanted to ask Wahlberg to say hi to his mother for them!
