Police Warn Of Robbers Posing As Rideshare Drivers In River North, Near North Side

Police sent out an alert on Tuesday to residents of the Near North Side after a series of related armed robberies, some of which involved offenders posing as rideshare drivers.

In each instance, victims were either picked up in "what is believed to be a ridesharing vehicle" or were walking when someone pulled out a weapon and robbed them, according to police. Each robbery happened early in the morning, police said.

The robberies took place on the following dates and at the listed locations:
Sunday, May 28 - 2000 block of North Halsted Street
Sunday, June 4 - 500 block of North Dearborn Street
Sunday, June 4 - 1100 block of North State Street
Saturday, June 17 - 100 block of West Illinois Street
