A New Food & Drink Fest Devoted To Chicago's Sister Cities Is Coming To The Riverwalk

If you spent the past few days chowing at Taste of Chicago but still have room in your heart (and gut) for ever more food to be consumed in a downtown, outdoor festival environment, here's good news. The city on Monday announced its latest food-fest initiative, one that has a decidedly internationalist bent and takes advantage of the city's newest showpiece, the Riverwalk.
Every Thursday night between July 13 and Aug. 17, Unifest will showcase food, spirits, beer, wine and music from a selection of Chicago's 28 sister cities at the Riverwalk, on the jetty between Wells and Franklin. It kicks off this week, with music by DJ Sadie Woods & DJ Madrid (Paris), drinks by Sobieski vodka (Warsaw), beer from Tsingtao (Shanghai) and Revolution Brewing (Chicago, of course), wine from Rupert & Rothschild Classique (South Africa) and Mount Hermon (Israel). Food will represent Athens, Hamburg and Chicago.
Check out the full schedule here. And familiarize yourself with all of Chicago's two-dozen-plus sister cities here. (Who knew we had so many siblings?).
Each Unifest event happens between 4:30 and 8:30 pm on Thursday evening. Dishes run $4, beer is $6, wine is $8, and cocktails are $10.
