Woman Shot & Killed While Sleeping In Washington Park

A woman was fatally shot as she slept early Tuesday morning in Washington Park, according to authorities.
A gunman fired shots into the home where Rhonda Hughes, 40, was sleeping, in the 5200 block of South Martin Luther King Drive, at around 5:26 a.m., according to the Chicago Police Department and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
Hughes was hit the in buttocks and taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police said the home was targeted by the shooter, but it wasn't clear whether Hughes was the intended target.
No one was in custody as of Tuesday morning, according to police.
