You Can Check Out Vintage CTA Buses Today At Daley Plaza

The CTA turned the big 7-0 this year, and to celebrate, it's been showing off some of its vintage wares. After rolling out train cars from the 1920s and 1970s last month, the CTA on Tuesday is displaying some of their period-piece bus counterparts.
The Heritage Fleet of buses is parked out at Daley Plaza until 9 p.m. The doors were unfortunately closed at 3 p.m. but you can still go get a nice eye-full of the deep green-and-gray exteriors on your way back from the office.
You can read more about the CTA's Heritage Fleet—which includes three diesel-powered buses built in the 1960s—here and check out photos below. And if you miss out, or are bummed you couldn't climb in the interiors, don't fret. A CTA spokesperson told Chicagoist that the old-school rides will be back on public display sometime in the future.

The thing that brought back most memories of these old CTA buses at Daley Plaza is the stars on the roof. Also the smell and the lack of AC. pic.twitter.com/r4f29NcNSP
