It looks like celebrated hip-hop super-duo Run the Jewels will extend their presence well beyond just their spot on the Lollapalooza stage when the festival takes root once again in Chicago, in August.
Indie-rap heroes El-P and Killer Mike are teaming up with local craft brewers Pipeworks Brewing Co. and Brooklyn’s Interboro Spirits & Ales to get in on the (seriously hopping) pop-up game, at Logan Square arcade bar Emporium (2367 N. Milwaukee Ave). The Run the Jewels pop up will feature cocktails inspired by the duo (which ought to be strong), an IPA collabo beer, RtJ merch and—best of all, we think—a couple of DJ sets from RtJ's Trackstar the DJ.
The bar installation lands in Emporium's revolving concept space from Aug. 2 through Aug. 6, open these times.
Wednesday 8/2: 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Thursday 8/3 12 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Friday 8/4 12 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Saturday 8/5 12 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Sunday 8/6 12 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Expect the busy time to be 10:30 p.m. through 1:30 a.m. on Thursday and Friday—which is when Trackstar is slated to spin. (No confirmation on Mike and El, though.)
As for the Jewels-meets-Pipeworks-meets-Interboro beer? It's a dry hopped IPA called Stay Gold that's actually apparently quite good. Not that we would expect the Jewels crew to slap their name on any ol' swill.
