From 16 last week, the list of the best burger spots in Chicago is now down to just 8 contenders, and there were some unexpected results in the last round.

More than 9000 votes were cast in this latest round of burger-rating. Some serious contenders got knocked out: Gather beat M Burger, Little Bad Wolf beat Johnny's Grill, and Kuma's totally destroyed BIG & little's. The surprises of this round? Small Cheval is out; Old Irving Brewing managed to beat them 54 to 46 percent, and DMK got beat by Big Guys Sausage Stand.

In this round, it's an early high-stakes standoff, with Au Cheval facing off against Kuma's. Who will win?

The complete bracket is below. Polls will remain open until next Monday, July 31 at 10 p.m.
