Woman Struck And Killed By Metra UPN Train Near Wilmette

A woman was fatally struck by a Metra Union Pacific North Line train on Wednesday morning near the Wilmette station, according to Metra and reports.
A train due to arrive in Chicago at 8:26 a.m. stuck a pedestrian at Wilmette, resulting in extensive delays as both inbound and outbound trains were temporarily suspended, according to Metra.

Witnesses told ABC7 that the woman was crossing the tracks on her way to the platform when the train struck her.
Delays of up to 90 minutes could reportedly be expected on Wednesday morning, although trains were moving again as of 10:15 a.m.
Metra said the CTA would temporarily honor Metra tickets on the Purple Line, Red Line (from Howard to Loyola) and Brown Line, at Damen.
