The ramen craze is now creeping further to our friends up north. Furious Spoon opens a new location in Evanston today, and they're giving out free ramen to help celebrate.

The first 100 guests in line will get a free bowl when the Evanston spot (1700 Maple Street) opens Thursday, August 3 at 5 p.m. The location will then be open seven days a week, with hours starting at 11 a.m.

The restaurant has been expanding, well, furiously, since it arrived in Chicago in 2015. Furious Spoon also has locations in Wicker Park, Logan Square, Pilsen and at Revival Hall.

Aside from the usual signature soups, the Evanston outpost will feature a similar interior scheme as other locations (custom woodwork, loud hip-hop), plus a 40-seater patio and cocktails, mocktails and beer on the menu.

The city is also apparently Chef Shin Thompson's original stomping grounds. "I grew up in Evanston, so I’m very excited to open a restaurant in my hometown," he said in a release.
