A 33-year-old man was killed after falling onto the tracks and touching the third rail of the CTA Red Line early Sunday morning.

The man, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, police told the Chicago Tribune. Fire officials were called at 5:55 a.m. to 128 N. State Street in the Loop. The CTA says the incident happened near the former Washington Station just south of the State/Lake CTA station.

CTA officials cut power to the Red Line trains after hearing someone was on the southbound tracks, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The Red Line was rerouted, and the scene was cleared by about 7:30 a.m., according to CTA tweets.
