It wasn't a particularly long run for Dixie, which opened in July of 2016 and made it just over a year. Dixie lost Tony Quartaro, the opening chef, in January, and has apparently just cancelled all upcoming reservations.

Eater Chicago reports that Dixie sent out a note to reservation-holders saying future reservations were canceled, and that it wasn't possible to make new reservations. The modern southern spot (which was so pretty that it won a Jean Banchet award for best design), was posting on Facebook until this weekend, so it may have been an abrupt closure.

Dixie's combination of modern techniques and southern flavors won accolades from some, though the Reader's Mike Sula called it a "mixed bag." From my perspective, the real standout was the jewelbox of a cocktail bar, 1952 1/2; I'll be sad to see it go.
