We're just four days away from the most hotly-anticipated heavenly event in decades—Monday's total solar eclipse—and demand for solar-eclipse glasses has become a bit, well, astronomical. But if you're still trying to get your hands on a pair, you might be in luck.
Folks from Adler Planetarium will be handing out free eclipse glasses on Thursday in South Grant Park, "near the skate park," between 2 and 8 p.m. If you don't have any luck then and there, you can head to Lagunitas Brewing Company (2607 W. 17th Street) on Friday, where Adler ambassadors will again be handing out the sun specs, from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m.
That's while supplies last, of course. And if today is any indication, that won't be particularly long. Adler Planetarium said that their supply from this morning's giveaway, at Daley Plaza, which began at 7 a.m. was exhausted by shortly after 8 a.m.
Some big crowds were seen braving the morning rain in hopes of getting the elusive glasses.
We are OUT of solar eclipse glasses at Daley Plaza. Our next stop will be South Grant Park (near the skate park) at 2pm while supplies last!
