A bust of Abraham Lincoln erected in West Englewood has been burned, according to Ald. Raymond Lopez (Ward 15).
"This bust of Abraham Lincoln, erected by Phil Bloomquist on Aug. 31, 1926, was damaged and burned," Lopez wrote on Facebook. He urged anyone with knowledge of the "disgraceful act of vandalism" to contact either police or the alderman's office.
The bust sits near the southwest corner of South Wolcott Avenue and West 69 Street.
Lopez posted about the vandalism on Wednesday. It's not clear when the act took place. CPD spokesperson Laura Amezaga told Chicagoist that police were currently looking into the incident.
