Looks like that long-rumored reunion of the original Smashing Pumpkins lineup will have to wait just a little longer. Lead Pumpkin Billy Corgan on Tuesday announced an upcoming solo album, Ogilala, which he will release under his full name, William Patrick Corgan, on Oct. 13. Ogilala will be Corgan's second solo effort, his last being 2005's TheFutureEmbrace.
The first taste of Ogilala is the sweetly soaring "Aeronaut," a song firmly in the vein of the "Twilight to Starlight" sides of the Pumpkins' Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Check it out below.
To promote the new solo jawn, Corgan will embark on a brief acoustic tour, primarily focusing on the coasts but including a two night stand in Chicago, at Athenaeum Theatre on Oct. 24 and 25. His full tour dates are below and all tickets go on sale this Friday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m. local time through the Ogilala website.
Oct. 14 and 15 in Brooklyn, NY at Murmrr Theatre
Oct. 18 in Wilmington, DE at Grand Opera House
Oct. 20 in Toronto, ON at Queen Elizabeth Theatre
Oct. 24 and 25 in Chicago, IL at Athenaeum Theatre
Oct. 27 in Nashville, TN at CMA Theater
Oct. 29 in Boulder, CO at Boulder Theater
Nov. 1 and 2 in San Francisco, CA at Herbst Theatre
Nov. 9, 10 and 11 in Los Angeles, CA at Hollywood Forever Cemetery
Those still holding out hope for that reunion tour might appreciate knowing that the last time Corgan released a solo album, he announced he was resurrecting a version of the Pumpkins on the day of its release. So, we'll see what happens.
