Furious Spoon Is Taking Over The Old Olympia Meats Space In Restaurant Row

Two seemingly unstoppable trends collide next year when ramen expansionism meets the West Loop boom. Furious Spoon on Wednesday announced that the restaurant's newest outpost will be right in the heart of Restaurant Row, where it will take up the storefront vacated by a long-running but now-shuttered butcher shop.

Furious Spoon is eyeing a summer 2018 opening date for a location at 810 W. Randolph St., which as Crain's points out, was home to Olympia Meats butcher shop for decades. The West Loop spot—which will be a 2000-square-foot 60-seater—will feature the same noodle/soup-centric menu as other Chicago locations, according to a spokesperson.

Furious Spoon has expanded like wildfire since arriving in Chicago some two-and-a-half years ago. They currently have locations, in Wicker Park (1571 N. Milwaukee Ave.), Logan Square (2410 N. Milwaukee Ave.), Revival Hall (125 S. Clark St.), Pilsen (1316 W. 18th St.) and Evanston (1700 Maple Street). A Lakeview spot is also in the works. So it's no surprise to see it grow yet again, but it'll be interesting to see it move right alongside the heavyweights of the West Loop dining scene.
