We seem to recall one or three dozen warnings against viewing the solar eclipse without proper eye protection. But apparently Brooklyn rapper (and Leon from Mr. Robot) Joey Bada$$ was feeling modern-day presidential enough to throw caution to the wind and look directly at the sun, sans specs—a decision that was quickly followed by the rapper's announcement that he was cancelling three upcoming dates, including one in Chicago, "due to unforeseen circumstances."
The dates, which also included Toronto and Cleveland, are the last stateside performances for Logic’s Everybody tour. The Chicago date is tonight, at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island, and will continue without Bada$$.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, my Cleveland, Chicago & Toronto shows on the #EverybodyTour are cancelled.

Those "circumstances" remained vague, though as SPIN pointed out, the announcement came right on the heels of this celestial boast:
Am I crazy for watching the eclipse today w no glasses? I've sungazed before and afterwards saw colors for a whole day. I didn't die tho

This ain't the first solar eclipse and I'm pretty sure our ancestors ain't have no fancy eyewear. Also pretty sure they ain't all go blind.

As for the potential link, Joey seemed to relish the speculation. "Seeing double, stacking triple," tweeted the rapper after the link was drawn on Wednesday. (Although, as the Tribune pointed out, he did also post a photo that showed him sporting eclipse glasses at some point.)
Seeing double, stacking triple.

Whatever the case may be, hopefully you caught him at Lollapalooza, because, sundazed or not, he's won't be back in town. Lets just hope he doesn't have a tour and album cycle in 2024.
