We know there's one or two beer-drinking Wisconsin transplants who call Illinois home and might therefore appreciate this promising nugget of beer-distribution news: Leinenkugel Brewing Company will make the beer that launched the company some 150 years ago available nationwide.

Leinenkugel’s Original lager—which was previously only available in Wisconsin and Minnesota—is being rolled to all 50 states, beginning later this year, the Chippewa Falls-based brand announced on Thursday.

“As far as we know, it’s the original recipe,” says Dick Leinenkugel, in a release. “Of course, the beer and taste has changed throughout the years as we’ve refined our processes and gotten new equipment. But all of those changes are good, and the beer is even better now and certainly more consistent than it’s ever been."

A quick office poll reveals a general preference for Leinie's Berry Weiss or Oktoberfest, but we won't complain about more selection. And since, as a subsidiary of MillerCoors, Leinenkugel's definitely has powerful, Big Beer distro infrastructure behind it, they might as well get the flagship sailing. We'll keep an eye out.
