In news that will either terrify and exhaust you or thrill you beyond belief, Six Flags announced on Thursday that not only do the amusement-park operators have in their possession a record-breakingly mammoth new coaster, they'll also be debuting it in Chicago's backyard, at Six Flags Great America.

A 100-foot loop coaster—dubbed the largest in the world—will make its debut next year at the Gurnee destination. We have the technology, Illinois.

In addition to that towering height, the as-yet-unnamed 32-seat monster hurtles passengers both forward and backward in the circle. Riders are seated back-to-back and face-to-face—so please do hold onto your lunch. Most terrifyingly, it stops at the top, leaving you suspended upside down for "extended times." Like we said, either the stuff of dreams or pure nightmare fuel, depending on your perspective.

"Six Flags continues to prove that innovation is in our DNA, and we are thrilled to introduce yet another world-record breaking coaster to our impressive arsenal of thrill rides,” said an appropriately immodest Hank Salemi, Park President, in the release. “Standing at 100 feet tall, this is an experience our guests cannot get anywhere else on the planet. With the multiple inversions and record hang-time, this new coaster packs a punch and is going to be one of our most intense attractions."

The big ol' loop lands at Great America next spring, according to Six Flags. Godspeed—if you're into that sorta thing.
