All northbound lanes on the Dan Ryan Expressway were shut down on Thursday afternoon after a shooting left two people wounded, according to Illinois State Police and the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The shooting happened at around 2 p.m. near 71st Street, police said.
The two victims were walk-ins at St. Bernard Hospital. Both victims conditions reportedly stabilized.
All northbound lanes were shut down as of about 3:40 p.m. as crews investigated the scene. Traffic is being diverted off the Dan Ryan at 71st Street, IDOT said. Aerial photography showed traffic snarled to the side of the expressway.
