When I heard Twin Peaks was coming to Chicago on New Year's Eve, I at first hoped that meant David Lynch would appear alongside Agent Cooper to ensure us we weren't all crazy, and that the finale was meant to be felt and not understood. Instead, it's hometown heroes the band Twin Peaks that will be playing two shows at Thalia hall on Dec. 30 and 31.

It's been a true pleasure to watch Twin Peaks grow from a scrappy garage band of high-school friends into the polished, if still raucous, international live act they've turned into today. This is a band that holds nothing back on stage, even as their albums have grown more and more refined, showing that there is an intellectual perfection going on behind the musical madness. Heck, these folks don't even let broken limbs hold them back. So it should be a good evening of music.

Post Animal and Dehd will be opening the Dec. 30 show, with Ne-Hi and Today's Hits opening the Dec. 31 show.

If you need something to tide you over until the show, the band is in the middle of their Sweet ’17 Singles Series, releasing a single a month, and the latest one is "Come For Me” on the A-side, with "Fat Chance” on the B-side. Plug in and get amped.
