Netflix Puts The Kibosh On The Unauthorized 'Stranger Things' Bar The Upside Down

If there's one thing hipsters love, it's nostalgia for a time they didn't even live through, so it's no surprise that the Stranger Things themed pop-up The Upside Down has attracted huge lines over the last few weeks.
Naturally, the owners of the Emporium Arcade Bar who are hosting the pop-up, wanted to extend the run of the installation. However Netflix had other ideas about the situation. Perhaps the organizers hoped for more a Saved By the Bell kind of vibe, similarly to how Saved By The Max ended up getting the blessing of NBC/Universal after it was already in the works? But no such luck here. At least Netflix showed a good sense of humor in their legal smackdown to the bar. Their gently cease and desist reads:
Look, I don’t want you to think I’m a total wastoid, and I love how much you guys love the show. (Just wait until you see Season 2!) But unless I’m living in the Upside Down, I don’t think we did a deal with you for this pop-up. You’re obviously creative types, so I’m sure you can appreciate that it’s important to us to have a say in how our fans encounter the worlds we build.
You can read the whole letter here. You've got until Oct. 1 to wait in the huge line and see the Upside Down for yourself, before it makes like Barb and disappears forever.
