Add another to the painfully long list of restaurant closures in 2017—although this one was somewhat expected, and it shouldn't be the very end for them in the area.

Beloved Mexican sandwich shop Cemitas Peubla announced on Thursday that it has closed its Logan Square location, with plans to find a permanent location, either in Logan Square or in Humboldt Park.

We knew the Logan Square location (3129 W. Armitage Ave.) was always something of a stopgap. Cemitas shuttered its original Humboldt Park location (3619 W. North Ave.) in May of 2015 after a dispute with the property's landlord, according to the Tribune, and the Armitage "pop-up" outpost was only intended to fill the void for about a year.

Owner Tony Anteliz told Chicagoist that he currently does not have any leads on a new spot in the neighborhood, adding, "We aren't rushing the process."

"We will take our time in finding the right space for us and for our guests. We intend to be in that space for a long time so it's important we get it right," he said in an email.

In the meantime, we'll rue the temporary loss of those stacked Atomicas on the Northwest Side. The Hyde Park and West Loop locations are still open.
